The Community Engagement(CE) is one of the key core components of the Career related programme. The course is designed in such a way that it provides students with experiences that are both enjoyable and challenging and benefit others. Students exercise their choice, voice and accountability during CE. In this process they will grow into a better person and will get to know how to use the skills and talents for the common good.
In an effort to support a social cause, students from Birla Open Minds International School (BOMIS) organized a series of sports activities aimed at raising funds for a free medical health camp at Devnar School for the Blind. This report details the planning, execution, and outcomes of the fundraising event, highlighting the students' efforts and the impact of the initiative.
The sports day was held on November 14th , attracting a large crowd of students, teachers and school community members. The event commenced with an opening ceremony, including a motivational speech by the school principal and a brief introduction to the cause.
Direct Service: IBCP students organized a free medical camp for students of visually challenged. This initiative is supported by funds raised from the BOMIS (Birla Open Minds International School) Kollur Challenge Cup 2023-24.

Micronutrients include vitamins and minerals such as calcium and iron. These nutrients are crucial for maintaining good health, a strong immune system, and promoting proper growth and development. Free medicines will be provided to students diagnosed with these deficiencies.

Our school organized a special assembly on neurodiversity and spread awareness about what it means to be neurodivergent . As a part of awareness campaign Dr. Chaitanya Laxmi and Dr. Adi prathyusha who are CONSULTANT CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRISTS, gave enriching knowledge to the students on topic SUPPORTING THE NEURODIVERGENT AS A SOCIETY. commemorate this important day, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.
The school hosted an informative session for girls in grades 5-12 to raise awareness about puberty and body awareness. The session was conducted by Ms. Yamini Mahalakshmi, a trainer from Riverside Story, a leading organization in Child Safeguarding, in partnership with Whisper, India. This interactive session covered important topics such as puberty, personal care, menstruation and period care, relationships, and the concept of 'consent.'

As part of the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP), students attended an Adventure Camp aimed at integrating Service learning with outdoor education. This camp provided students with an opportunity to develop personal and social skills while contributing to community service projects. Held at Masjid Gadda Jungle Camp, Hyderabad .The camp combined adventure activities with service initiatives to create a holistic learning experience.
Our students have emerged from the Adventure Camp as seasoned wilderness enthusiasts, having honed their survival skills to perfection. Equipped with survival kits tailored to their needs, they're ready to tackle any outdoor challenge with confidence and great gusto. Their adventure may have ended, but the lessons learned and memories made will last a lifetime.
The Hands of Hope initiative by IBCP students proved to be a rewarding and impactful experience for student volunteers. Through their dedication and hard work, they made a tangible difference in the lives of street dogs while gaining valuable life skills and fostering a sense of social responsibility. The program not only benefited the animals but also enriched the lives of the students, leaving a lasting impression of the importance of compassion and community service.
IBCP learners visited Zilla Parishad Government School, Serilingamaplli, Hyderabad to educate children about nutrition, emphasizing healthy eating habits and the importance of a balanced diet. The interactive session included discussions and practical tips on incorporating nutritious foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into their daily meals. It was fulfilling to see the children actively engage and learn about making healthy choices for their well-being.
"Breaking Chains" exemplifies the commitment of IBCP students to address critical social issues through innovative means. The film not only educated audiences about the dangers of drug abuse but also empowered students to advocate for positive change in their communities. Moving forward, the project's success underscores the potential of youth-led initiatives in tackling pressing global concerns through short film.
