The DSHS bands go on a trip each year, with financial and organizational help from the Band Boosters. Plans are to go on three different trips for every three consecutive years. Thus, a student in the program will experience three different trips in their time at the High School. The trips will be determined by the Director with input from the Band Booster Board.
This year, the bands will tour Northern California (April 9-11 2026). Currently the itinerary includes (subject to change):
Music Clinic at the University of the Pacific
Have dinner and attend a show at Yoshi's Jazz Club
Spend a day at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
Visit the Exploratorium
Visit Alcatraz Island
Explore/Shop at Pier 39
Excursion to the Golden Gate Bridge at Sunset
Group dinner at Swiss Louis Italian and Seafood Restaurant
Last year, the bands travelled to Southern California (March 20-24 2025). Featured events were the Sound Studio recordings and enjoying time at Disneyland and California Adventures.
Coconut Grove is the band program's biggest annual fundraiser. It's a chance to listen to our great bands, raise money for our students, win fabulous auction prizes, and have a wonderful evening. This year we are holding the event at Great Bear Vinyards located at 24800 County Road 101A in Davis, California.
