Evan discovered his passion for singing and acting at just ten years old, and he has been committed to the stage ever since. Falsettos, holds a special place in his heart for its emotional honesty, groundbreaking storytelling, and its remarkable blend of humor and heartbreak. Les Misérables is such an iconic, beautiful, and demanding production, and has been an extraordinary experience. Evan is deeply grateful and honoured to take on the role of Jean Valjean, a lifelong dream brought to life. Evan would like to express his heartfelt thanks to his voice coaches, Elaine Overholt, Tenja Hagenberg, and Ms. Sacco, as well as Mr. Baker, Mr. Alexander and his parents for their guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support in helping him achieve this incredible opportunity.
Isaac has long loved John Kander & Fred Ebb’s ‘Cabaret’, admiring its emotional poignancy and timeless plot. He’s thrilled to be apart of Laura Secord’s Les Miserables, admiring its many moving parts and the dedication from all cast and crew to making it an amazing show. Isaac would like to thank his Mom for always encouraging his participation in the arts.
Leah is a grade 11 student who enjoys expressing her love for the arts. Leah recently played Judy Bernly in Laura Secord's last musical 9 to 5. Leah's favourite musical is Anything Goes because she loves when musicals incorporate big dramatic set designs. However Leah is excited to be stepping into the role of Fantine with this incredible cast and crew. Leah would like to thank her family for always being the upmost supportive.
Charlotte is extremely excited and honoured to be playing the role of Young Cosette in her first year at Laura Secord. She most recently played the role of Tomika in Garden City Productions of School of Rock. She’d like to thank Lisa Brillon for all her help preparing for this role and for her continued support and invaluable guidance. She would also like to thank Miss Sacco and Mr. Baker for the opportunity to be a part of Les Misérables, and all the cast and the crew for making the whole experience so memorable.
Aoibhin has always loved the Phantom of the Opera because of the dramatic music and acting within, plus the set designs and costumes being so amazing. She is so happy to be part of the production because she loves les mis as well as the character she is, she always loved thenardier's personality and acting ability for the musical! Zoë is thrilled to play Madame Thenardier in this year’s Laura Secord production of Les Miserables as the character reminds her of Mrs. Lovett from her favourite musical Sweeney Todd. She is honoured to work alongside such a talented cast and crew of people. She would like to thank her mom for encouraging her to audition for this musical, and supporting her artistic endeavours.
Sophia's favourite musical has been Mamma Mia ever since grade 6, because of its beautiful setting, creative music and amazing characters.This year, Sophia is excited to be Gavroche in the cast of Les Mis, as she loves being the comedic relief. Sophia would like to thank Ms. Sacco and Mr. Baker for this amazing opportunity to be at Laura Secord in this fantastic musical.
Chloe Bowmans favorite musical is The Outsiders because she finds it relatable and it gives her major nostalgia. It’s been her favorite book and movie forever, so getting to see all the emotion and creativity live on stage was honestly unforgettable. She’s also incredibly grateful and so excited to play Eponine in Les Misérables, because it’s a dream role especially in such an iconic musical. Chloe wants to thank the casting team for giving her this chance and believing she could bring Éponine to life, and of course her mom and dad for always being her biggest supporters in everything she does.
Claire Falle has a strong passion for musical theatre, and is especially connected to musicals that feature “classical” singing techniques. For this reason, Claire’s favourite musical is The Phantom of The Opera. Claire would like to send a personal thanks to her music teacher, Sandra Mason for helping her grow as a musician. Claire is so pumped to be a part of “Les Miserables”, with her incredibly talented cast mates that have made the rehearsal process of the show so memorable.
Wren Evans, after being in a production of it, believes the best musical is Bernstiens Mass. Wren is excited to get back into musical theatre after a long break. Wren wants to thank Andorlie Hillstrom, the reason he is here on stage in the first place, and the one who showed him the magic of musical theatre.
Diego has loved musical theatre since he was seven years old. Two years ago, he saw Les Misérables live in Toronto for the first time, and it instantly became his favourite musical—captivating him with its story, characters, performances, and especially its music. Ever since, he has dreamed of performing one of the show’s leading roles, and this year he is thrilled and grateful to bring his favourite, Marius, to life. Als Vanderlee feels absolutely blessed to play their roles in such an empowering light, whether that be from the kind-hearted and honest bishop, to the determined and intuitive Courfeyrac. Als’s favourite musical is Jesus Christ Superstar because they enjoy the nuanced outlook and cathartic songs that Andrew Loyd Webber brought to it. Als would like to thank Ms. Sacco and Mr. Baker for always supporting them in their musical journeys and is excited to continue their passion of musical theatre for the next year they have in high school and long after.
Nicholas believes his favourite musical to be "Be More Chill." He adores the unexpected, yet relatable themes it utilizes and the music is among some of the best he's heard. Nicholas is very happy to be apart of Les Mis as Prouvaire, among other minor roles. He'd like to let Mr.Baker know that he's a welcome addition to Laura Secord's Arts Department.
Maximus is looking forward to playing his various roles in the Les Mis production. He is so happy to be a part of the cast alongside his friends in his last year of high school. His favourite musical is Hamilton; he loves everything about it. Maximus would like to thank Katryna Sacco for encouraging him to be in the performance this year despite his many other committments, and for all of her support, and the fun he has had being in her class and choir over the last four years!
I’m Ethan Saunders, and I’m excited to be part of this cast. It’s my first year at Laura Secord, and I love getting to experience new things with new people. I was in Mamma Mia at the start of the year, and I grew to love that musical so much. I’m hoping Les Mis gives me the same amazing experience.
Darwin is a big fan of Rocky Horror Picture Show and has seen it many times with his dad. He is very excited to be part of Les Mis because he’s pushing himself farther than he’s gone before. Darwin’s dad has been a huge inspiration for him and he would like to thank him for all he’s done.
Hung Do, a student with not too much experience, has a great interest in performing in theater. He is glad and honored to be part of such an amazing show. The roles he recieved suited him well and is happy to perform with those roles. Hung is grateful to the people at Laura Secord S.S and others who helped along his journey.
Claire is a Grade 10 student at Laura Secord. Her favourite musical is Moulin Rouge with its high energy soundtrack, spectacular choreography, and timeless love story. Claire has been looking forward to participating in a Laura Secord production for many years, and is grateful for the chance to bring this dream to life on stage. Jay is a Grade 12 student and has been actively contributing to the music department since her grade 9 year. She is a big fan of musical theatre acting and singing styles. Her favourite musical is Little shop of horrors. She was a part of 9 to 5 and has continuously been a part of Chamber choir, Advanced jazz choir and concert choir. Jay is very excited to announce she will be playing the role of Feuilly in Laura secords production of Les Misérables. Jay is so beyond grateful for this experience and she can’t wait to see what the future offers!
Sarah has loved being apart of the performing arts community since the age of 3. She was in her first musical production at the age of 11 in Linus Hands production of “Beauty and the beast” and has continued to be apart of multiple musical productions since then. Sarah is very excited to be apart of her first Laura Secord production of Les Miserables. Sarah would also like to thank her friends and family who have supported her through her journey as a performer.
Jaxen is a grade 12 student who is proud to be ending her high school theatre experiences this year in Les Misérables. Her favourite musical is Sweeney Todd for its bold storytelling and music. As she looks back on her past four years at Secord, she would like to give thanks to Ms. Sacco for all the effort and time she puts into watching her students grow and to her parents, for showing up to every performance and early choir drop-offs, and to her friends who have made all the long school days worth it.
Abby Cabaj is thrilled to be a part of Laura Secord’s production of Les Misérables! Her favorite musical is "Mamma Mia" because of its catchy tunes and heartwarming story. She's overjoyed to join this production, as it has been such a wonderful experience and is such an iconic timeless show. Abby would like to thank her family and her friend Leah for encouraging her to branch out and try musical theatre – she couldn't have done it without their support!
Adalaide has always enjoyed watching musicals whether it be Wicked or Hamilton and she is so excited to be a part of Secord's production of Les Miserables. She would like to thank her parents, sister, and relatives for always helping her and being such a great motivation.
Alena is so happy to be a part of such a talented cast for her first ever musical! In her last year of high school, she decided to take her chance on Les Mis, and it’s turned out incredibly rewarding! Alena would like to thank all those who helped make this experience possible and include a special thank you to the arts faculty, namely Mr. Baker, Mr. A, and Ms. Sacco who sacrifice so much for their students and fight so hard for them.
Wicked has always been Daya’s favourite musical because it offers a fresh retelling of The Wizard of Oz from a completely different character’s perspective, something Daya finds both creative and inspiring. Daya is incredibly thankful to be part of the Les Misérables musical and looks forward to revealing different sides of herself through the various roles she has been given. Grateful for the opportunity, Daya feels honoured to be one of the very few grade nines selected to join the production at Laura Secord Secondary School.
Eli has always said her favourite musical is Hadestown because of the unique music and story. Eli is excited to be in the cast of Les mis as she gets to play many different roles in one show, switching between the few in different scenes, and having fun with friends.
Gabriella enjoys both Hadestown and Newsies but can not pick a favourite between the two. They are overjoyed to be a part of this cast of Les Mis, because of all the wonderful connections they were able to make. Gabriella would like to thank their parents for accommodating their busy schedule.
Julia has been in love with The Sound of Music since daycare—thanks to her family’s annual New Year’s tradition of watching and humming along with the Von Trapps. She is thrilled to be part of Les Misérables this year, especially since she gets to sing (an upgrade, in her opinion, from last year’s play). Julia would like to thank Mr. Baker, Ms. Sacco, Ms. Di Paolo, and everyone involved in production for their endless volunteered time, talent, and patience.
Malaia has been a fan of musical theatre for a long time becoming more involved in the past few years. Malaia is happy to be apart of Les Mis because she gets to see everything come together piece by piece and be surrounded by a great community while doing what she loves. Meredyth has been a musical lover since forever and her favourite musicals are Wicked and Hadestown. She loves being part of the show with all of her friends during her grade 12 year and hopes To purse acting as a career! Sienna has been inspired by music and dancing for as long she can remember. The moment she saw Les Miserables live in Toronto she has been captivated by the powerful storytelling and music. She is thrilled and so grateful to be a part of this process to grow as an actor as well as build stronger connections with this wonderful cast. Sienna would like to express her sincere appreciation and love for her family for there loving support and encouragement.
Zahra’s favourite musical of all time is Hamilton because she loves Lin Manuel Miranda, she loves the soundtrack, the show’s stage, and it eats DOWN. However Zahra is so happy to be in Les Mis, because this is her first ever musical to be a part of, she is very excited and grateful. Zahra would like to thank Ms.Sacco for being the most funniest and amazing music teacher.
Ellie is an elementary school student at Lockview and is so excited to be a part of the show. She is no stranger to the stage, as she made her debut in Laura Secord's musical Mamma Mia in 2021 at just 5 years old, where she played Young Sophie. Ellie loves performing and is very happy to be back on stage doing what she enjoys. She is grateful for the opportunity to be part of this production and can’t wait to share it with everyone.
