During our MONTH OF CODE in December. Our 8th graders are paired up with the Pre-K and Kindergarten classes to assist them in using the Dash robots. The students have used Blockly to navigate an obstacle course with tunnels and ramps. Additionally the younger grades use the Path App to complete sequencing and order challenges.
Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades have completed Code.org's Course 1 Jigsaw and Maze. The students have also created Binary Bracelets using the first letter of their first name. The students took beads to "code" the 8 bits of their initial letter creating a byte. Click here to learn more about bits and bytes.
Grades 3 - 8 participated in a BreakoutEDU. Students were given clues and boxes. They needed to use algorithms, QR Codes, emojis, Binary codes, and ciphers to unlock the boxes and solve the challenge. While not every group was successful, they certainly learned about coding and had fun debugging!
