Engineering internship

Helping get donations by being on the menu of 6ft under

part of a fundraising initiative, I was featured on the menu at 6 Feet Under, a well-known local restaurant in Atlanta. The goal was to raise awareness and collect donations for our cause by connecting with the community through food. A special item was added to the menu in my honor, and a portion of the proceeds from each order was donated to support our efforts. Being included in the campaign helped bring visibility to the work we were doing and encouraged people to contribute in a simple but meaningful way. It was a unique experience that showed me how creative collaborations between local businesses and young people can make a real impact. Not only did it raise money, but it also started conversations and brought more attention to our mission.

1) How has this internship compared to previous experiences you have had?

Unlike my past volunteer work, which focused on direct service like food delivery, this internship at the Atlanta Preservation Center taught me how to contribute through research and long-term planning. It also helped me develop my interpersonal skills working with staff, visitors, and community members improved my communication, collaboration, and professionalism in a more formal setting.

2) How has your internship impacted your plans for the future?

This experience confirmed my interest in becoming a construction consultant and real estate developer, but it also made me more aware of the importance of historic preservation. I now want to develop properties that not only bring progress but also respect the history and culture of the communities they serve.
