What does it mean to volunteer? Why would Drew require you volunteer for 100 hours during your high school career?
Being a part of the mentor program and Peer Leadership has greatly helped me fulfill my volunteer hours, as these programs encouraged me to get involved in various activities and service opportunities. Through these experiences, I had the chance to volunteer at different places and organizations, which allowed me to contribute in a variety of ways. One of my favorite volunteer experiences was with Toys for Tots, where I had the opportunity to help pack toys for children in need. It was incredibly fulfilling to be part of something so meaningful, especially knowing that our efforts would bring joy to families who were less fortunate.
Helping pack toys for kids was not only fun but also gave me a deeper understanding of the importance of giving back, especially around the holiday season. It was an eye-opening experience that allowed me to connect with others while working toward a shared goal of spreading holiday cheer. Volunteering at Toys for Tots reminded me of the impact small acts of kindness can have on the lives of others, and it was an experience I will always cherish.
Through these volunteer opportunities, I’ve been able to reach my 100-hour goal while gaining valuable skills, making new connections, and developing a sense of pride in knowing that I am part of a larger community working to make the world a better place
