Outside of my time at Drew, I work at the YMCA located just down the hill in the Playcenter, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. This job holds a special place in my heart because it was my very first job, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to start my professional journey. Working with children in the Playcenter has allowed me to develop valuable skills while doing something I truly enjoy.
I absolutely love interacting with the kids, whether it's leading them in fun activities, helping them explore their creativity, or just being there to provide a listening ear. Each day brings something new, and I find it so fulfilling to see the children grow and learn as we engage in various games and activities. The energy and excitement they bring to the space are contagious, and it’s always rewarding to witness their smiles and enthusiasm as they enjoy themselves.
Additionally, working at the YMCA has taught me a lot about responsibility, teamwork, and patience. I’ve learned how to manage different situations, multitask, and work effectively with my colleagues to ensure the kids have a safe and enjoyable environment. It’s also helped me develop a greater sense of leadership, as I often take the initiative in planning and coordinating activities.
