My name is Althea Byers, and I am a student at Drew Charter School Senior Academy, where I will graduate in 2027, having been part of the Drew community since pre-K, through the Cradle to College program. I’m passionate about learning and have consistently earned a spot on the principal’s list with all A’s. My favorite subjects are math and science, which inspire me to think critically and explore the world in different ways. Outside of school, I play both club and school volleyball, and I’m currently learning Spanish and guitar in my free time.
Some goals I have set for my high school career include maintaining a high GPA and continuing to challenge myself academically. I also aim to build strong, positive relationships with my teachers, as I believe their support and guidance are essential to my growth. In addition, I want to improve in my extracurricular pursuits, particularly in music and volleyball, as well as finding new extracurricular activities to try out.
This photo was taken during a school trip to the beta convention, an event organized by the national beta club, which is centered around academic achievement, character, leadership, and service among students. I participated in the book battle category, where my team earned 2nd place, as well as the academics: language arts category, where I also placed 2nd.
This photo was taken of me learning to play the guitar, a skill I have been working on outside of school. The learning chords and songs has helped with my patience and dedication. Pursuing this hobby lets me express my creativity while challenging myself.
