A tree and a neuron share the same function. Starting from the top to the bottom, the leaves of a tree do the same as spines. Leaves collect energy from the sun and transfer it to the tree; spines do the same. Spines collect chemical information to transfer to the dendrites. Next, branches serve the same function as dendrites. Branches of a tree transport nutrients, water, and sugar to help grow the tree; for dendrites, they transfer information needed to the other neurons. The trunk of the three providers structure supports but also transports materials and support. Axons of a neuron transmit electrical impulses. Tree bark and myelin sheath both act as an insulating layer that surrounds the trunk and axon for the myelin sheath. Lastly, but most importantly, the root and axon terminal. The root of the tree uses all of the nutrients and chemicals to produce for the growth of the tree; the axon terminal also uses the chemicals from the neurons to communicate with different types of cells.
