The things that we did outside were multiple things that would be built into structures. We had the feeling of what it would be like to experience making your own household and different types of buildings. The first experience we had was with hard red clay, dirt, water, and a brick mold that was going to be made into bricks. We dug up the clay & dirt and added water and started mixing the ingredients together with our feet as they did back in Mesopotamia times. When it was fully mixed we then packed the mixture in the mold to shape, slowly removed the mold, and left the brick t dry in the sun over a couple of days to weeks
The second project that we did was using bamboo and twine. I and my classmates came together to make a nice home to at least fit two people in out of bamboo and twine. We got the tallest bamboo poles and put two sets of two together and added a third pole of bamboo in the back for balance, then tied them all together with twine and added a support beam in the middle back for support and tied it together with more twine.
This is connected to STEAM with the art aspect in making the storyboards and stop motions, the math part with all the calculations and stuff. Also the engineering and the technology with typing papers and presentations. Social Studies because of the history used behind it to make it. I could take this further by doing extra things. We could’ve got together more and used our time wisely. I get a grade, a nice project, and gratification from this.
The first picture is the ingredients we brought and were able to use in the whole cooking process. The second picture is the start of the cooking process when we started cooking. The third picture is in the middle of the cooking process towards the end. The last picture is the product of our cooking with our plate being the third plate going from left to right. After the cooking process, we had to present our dishes and serve them to our judges. Then we had to explain the Columbian exchange. The Columbian Exchange is the exchange of food, animals, people, diseases, goods, and religion between the Western and Eastern Hemisphere.
