This week in Forensic Science, we are learning the importance of Blood Pattern Analysis. To do so, we had to research and diagram basic human anatomy. The structure, function and roles of the human circulatory system, veins, capillaries and arteries all play important roles in our body.
As a student who has been studying forensic science throughout the school year, I have found the topic of blood evidence and blood spatter to be the most fascinating and intriguing of all the topics we have covered.
Learning about the different types of blood evidence, such as passive, transfer, and projected bloodstains, has been particularly interesting because it has shown me just how much information can be gleaned from a crime scene through careful analysis of blood patterns. It has been incredible to see how much we can learn about the dynamics of a crime through the analysis of blood evidence, such as the position of the victim and the perpetrator, the type of weapon used, and the manner in which the crime was committed.
Moreover, I have been particularly captivated by the study of blood spatter. Understanding the physics of how blood droplets travel and how they behave upon impact has been a fascinating journey. The science behind blood spatter analysis has taught me how to decipher various types of blood patterns and their significance in a crime scene, such as the size and shape of the droplets, the angle of impact, and the direction of travel. This skill can be crucial in helping investigators piece together the events that led up to a crime, and in determining who was involved.
Overall, the study of blood evidence and blood spatter has been an incredibly intriguing and fascinating topic throughout the school year. It has opened my eyes to the importance of forensic science and how vital it can be in solving crimes and bringing justice to victims and their families. I am excited to continue to learn more about this subject and to see where it takes me in the future.
