Social Studies Assignment
Cultural Mingle
In this activity, we were first split into about 6 different groups. After we were in our groups we received a piece of paper giving us a different type of Japanese candy, and that would be our "culture group".On each paper, there were different rituals and taboos for that culture. For example, the culture group I was a part of was the "Strawberry Chocolates" one of our rituals was that we always have to keep physical contact with anyone we were talking to, another example would be the way we would do our greetings. In the "Strawberry Chocolate" culture you would touch shoulders, bend at the knees and say, "Greetings".
The reason for me choosing this assignment is simply because it was fun to participate in it. I liked this assignment because it gave us a way to see culture actively. One of the things I've learned from this activity is that different cultures can either come together nicely and sometimes cultures can completely clash together. In the end, we got to try out the different candies from Japan, this also showed me that different countries have their own taste and delicacies, which all are parts of culture.

Winter Concert
his was our first concert at the school. We sang about 4 songs: The Word was God, The Journey, Thixo Onotando, and A Christmas Sing-Along. Just like the performance for GSU we spent the whole semester learning and perfecting these songs.
I've been in chorus since 4th Grade or my first year at Drew. In chorus, we learn songs that are in different cultures so that we can tell different stories with our voices. We also learn about the music theory and how to read music by sight reading.
