I’m Isis Meggett, a senior at Drew Charter School. Over the years, I've had the privilege of growing up in a community where education is highly valued, but I also recognize the challenges that many students face in accessing the resources they need. Coming from a family where opportunities were sometimes scarce, I learned early on the importance of determination, adaptability, and helping others.
I believe that leadership is not just about taking charge but also about uplifting those around you. This belief has shaped my involvement in various extracurricular activities, including serving as the captain of my cheerleading team, mentoring younger students, and actively participating in community service projects. Through these experiences, I’ve developed strong communication and organizational skills that I carry with me in all areas of my life.
When I’m not focusing on academics or extracurricular activities, I enjoy reading, volunteering, and learning new things, especially about law and social justice. One of the most rewarding parts of my journey has been advocating for educational equity, which has further solidified my desire to pursue a career in law. I’m also passionate about working with youth, helping them overcome obstacles, and showing them what’s possible when they believe in their potential.
Above all, I value the relationships I’ve built with my peers, mentors, and community members. It’s through these connections that I’ve come to realize that leadership isn’t about titles or recognition; it’s about making a difference, no matter how small it may seem.

Looking ahead, my short-term goal is to graduate high school with a strong academic record and the confidence to take on the challenges that lie ahead in my educational and professional journey. I’m currently focused on maintaining a balance between academics, extracurriculars, and personal growth as I prepare for college. I’m also actively applying to colleges that align with my long-term aspirations, particularly those that offer strong pre-law programs.
In the long term, I aspire to become a lawyer, focusing on criminal justice and advocacy for underrepresented communities. I’m passionate about creating systemic change and ensuring that every individual, regardless of background, has access to fair treatment under the law. I see myself working on legal reform, specifically in areas of education and youth development, as I believe that these are foundational to creating more equitable societies.
To achieve these goals, I plan to attend a university where I can hone my critical thinking and legal analysis skills, actively participate in internships, and build a network of professionals who share my commitment to justice. I will continue to build on my leadership skills by taking on roles in student government, legal clubs, and community organizations, all while maintaining a strong academic focus.
Ultimately, I aim to use my education, experiences, and passion for justice to influence change both within my community and in the broader legal landscape. I understand that the road ahead will not always be easy, but I am committed to staying focused on my goals, knowing that the effort I put in now will help me achieve my dreams in the future.
