In this project, we were tasked with doing a school survey on the topic of our choice. We were tasked with researching a real-world relationship between two variables by implementing a study and designing a follow-up experiment. My group and I did a survey about the correlation between how many video games a person plays and the hours of sleep they get each night.
After we came up with the Idea for the survey, we had to get responses. I was tasked with asking people to complete out survey to ensure we have enough responses.
We were tasked with analyzing the data once we put it into desmos. We had to Interpert the data using statistics vocabulary. I was tasked with putting the data into the graph and helping my partner interpt the data.
We had to create an experiment to see whether the raw data would be the same as in an experiment. So, we created an experiment in which some people would play video games before bed and others wouldn't, and we would track their sleep. We had to create certain variables so everyone would have the same baseline, such as no caffeine and having the same meals.
We learned that while there was a weak correlation between sleep and hours of sleep, we didn't get a real answer whether they had any real correlation. In the future, I would ask more people to do my survey to have more people answer to possible take away any bias. Also, I would ask more questions to have in-depth answers. From this project, I learned that to create a good survey, you need many things, such as in-depth questions and a large sampling population, to get the best data possible
