1) How did we incorporate STEAM in class this Unit?
In class this unit we incorporated technology for the assignment transformation matrices to create a stop motion animation. We had to use a social media app called Tik Tok to make a stop motion for the stick people we had to plot on the graph.
2) Give an specific example of a time you used math in another class during this Unit?
In my personal finance class we use a lot of math when trying to learn how to save and budget and use different banks. In this class we are learning how to perfectly finance our lives the best way so we can be set for the future. With that being said personal finance requires a lot calculating and numbers.
Unit 6- Vectors
How did we incorporate STEAM in class this Unit?
In this unit we used vector operations to solve physics problems. For example, two movers trying to deliver a tv up the stairs finding the total force exerted on the TV.
Give an specific example of a time you used math in another class during this Unit?
A specific example of a time I used math in another class is in forensic science. We had to find the distance of the different blood drops/spatters using centimeters.
Launch- The rockets were filled water halfway and then pumped with air before being released, the pressure sending the rocket into launch. Our bottle was appromately in the air for 7 seconds.
Design Consideration
Base
My group members and I used an upside-down 2L bottle with the top of another bottle as our base.
The base is rounded to reduce air resistance. We left the bottom bottle whole so that when the water launched the rocket, the pressure would be focused on a flatter surface that's relatively in the middle of the rocket. We taped the top of a 2nd bottle to the top of the rocket for aerodynamics - the rounded rocket nose would be able to cut through the air more easily.
Fins
We added 3 fins (each 120° apart) to our rocket for stabilization. We constructed them with cardstock and wrapped each fin with foil tape and duck tape. We made sure not to make the fins too wide to avoid more wind resistance.
Weight
We made sure to keep our rocket light so it could travel a greater distance.
Aesthetics
We wanted our rocket to look like what it represented, a functioning, successful rocket. We used blue and yellow wash tape as decoration and to cover up taped areas. We also made a window and drew an astronaut using washi tape, foil tape, and Sharpie. Finally, we added some rhinestones.
