Born and raised in Covina, Drew is proud to be a life-long resident and call Covina HOME. Drew attended schools in Covina Valley and Charter Oak Unified School Districts and participated in youth sports throughout the city.
Drew Aleman was elected to serve as City Clerk in June 2022. He is a dedicated advocate for government transparency, expanding voter registration and participation, and enhancing access to city services. Among his notable achievements as City Clerk is the implementation of High School Voter Registration and Education Week, developed in partnership with the Covina Valley Unified School District and the Charter Oak Unified School District.
In addition to his role with the City, Drew is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and serves as Chair of the Department of Social Sciences at College of the Desert. He also serves as Vice President of the College of the Desert Faculty Association and as a board member of the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges, where he represents and advocates on behalf of students and faculty at the statewide level.
Drew remains deeply engaged in community service. He is the Youth Scholarship Coordinator for the Covina Valley Optimist Club, where he helps connect families in need with resources that enable local youth to participate in community sports programs. As a member of the LGBTQ community, he also serves on the board of the Los Angeles County LGBTQIA Elected Officials Association.
Drew proudly graduated from Bishop Amat Memorial High School, holds an Associate of Arts degree in Sociology from Citrus College, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UCLA, and a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Chicago.
Drew lives in Covina with his fiance, Derek, a Clinical psychologist who works with our nation’s veterans.
