To know Linda is to understand that profound connections can be forged where we least expect them. She is a sculptor and ceramic artist who wields her medium to make significant social statements, marrying two seemingly disparate themes: the raw, potent strength of femininity and the urgent conversation around gun safety. In her hands, these topics are not mutually exclusive but are different expressions of the same core concern—the power, vulnerability, and sacredness of life itself.
I came to understand this fusion through two of her featured works. The first, Boundless Joy, is a celebration of the life force in all its dangerous, seductive glory. Linda describes it as “beckoning seductively, singing the high notes for recognition,” a piece that wishes to “smell of the sea” and have “colors as soft and slippery as a satin quilt.” It is an unapologetic ode to feminine power, moaning hormones, and succulent elegance—a "Baroque-A-Go-Go" testament to being fully, vibrantly alive.
Then there is Luminous, a work that explores the tipping point of existence. Here, Linda seeks “the perfect antidote to an environment consumed by thoughts of recession and war.” These pieces hang, facing downward, “ready to kiss the earth,” appearing “prepared to drop their petals, blown out, at the end of their time.” It is a quiet, profound conversation about fragility—not of birth or sex, but of “the beginning of the last chapter.” It is here that the connection to her other work crystallizes; the same hand that celebrates the fierce joy of life also honors its profound delicacy, making a case for its protection.
To speak with Linda is to touch something deeply and joyously human. Through her art, she invites us to come closer, to contemplate both the effervescent tingle of pink and the final, gentle moment before sleep, reminding us that to cherish life is to celebrate it in all its forms, from its most boundless to its most fragile. It is an experience of blissful release.
7/16/2025: A Mythical Encounter at the Farmers' Market
Today’s farmers' market adventure led me to the enchanting booth of Mythos Sauce Company, where I met the charismatic Zach Mason, a man whose passion for mythology is as fiery as his sauces! My first question? “Why ‘Mythos’?” Cue the dramatic storytelling!
With the flair of a seasoned bard, Zach recounted his youthful travels to the mystical Mayan lands of Belize, where ancient legends and lush jungles sparked his obsession with myths. Fast-forward to today, and he’s crafting hot sauces fit for the gods. Each bottle is a tribute to deities who’d surely approve of his bold flavors. (Move over, ambrosia!)
Of course, I couldn’t resist taking home Athena: Cayenne Garlic Hot Sauce because if there’s one goddess you want on your side (and your taste buds), it’s the wise, warrior-born Athena. The bottle’s description alone is epic:
"Known for her equal skill in both wisdom and warfare, Athena is a goddess of dualities. She is also the inspiration for this sauce with spicy cayenne peppers and white vinegar balanced by sweet, roasted garlic, bell peppers and carrots. Perfect on chicken wings, corned beef hash, and creamy pastas like mac and cheese or Alfredo."
I'm about to marinate my bone-in chicken thighs and grill them to perfection. I feel a bit like Perseus, with Athena's shield in hand, the helmet of Hades upon my head, and the winged sandals of Hermes on my feet, as mythic gastronomy takes flight!
Long live Mythos Sauce Company! May your flavors be ever fierce, and your stories forever spellbinding. Thanks for making dinner epic, Zack!

Update: The Athena Chicken Thighs led me to new ways to enjoy chicken, just as Mentor (Athena) led Telemachus to new vistas.
