Who can be in We Are Queens at Rogers-Herr?

6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls can apply to be in We Are Queens.

How can my child participate in We Are Queens at Rogers-Herr Middle?

Your student will need to attend the We Are Queens interest meeting and complete the We Are Queens application by August 22, 2025.

***All students interested in joining We Are Queens will have to interview

When is the We Are Queens interest meeting at Rogers-Herr?

August 12, 2025, at 4:15 pm

What if my child or I cannot attend the interest meeting?

Please email shyquel_allison@dpsnc.net and let her know that your child and/you will not be able to attend the interest meeting.

What activities will my child participate in while in the We Are Queens program?

Monthly Meetings:
- Twice a month, Queens will have an opportunity to learn, discuss, and apply a core character trait that will help them to develop solutions to various issues that they may experience in and out of school. These core character traits will be incorporated into discussions, activities, and events that are held throughout the year. Meetings may be formatted based on Queens’ needs and interests.
Queen Celebrations:
- While participating in this program, Queens will be recognized and celebrated for their academic and personal accomplishments throughout the academic year. This recognition will reinforce positive behaviors and encourage them to persevere and remain focused.
Parent/Family Engagement:
- Parents/Guardians will be invited to actively engage in the program by serving in various capacities, but most importantly, to support their Queen in the program. Parents/Guardians will have an opportunity to learn and receive beneficial resources that will prepare them to support their Queen(s) in and out of school.

Community Service Component:
- While participating in this program, Queens will be encouraged to design, implement and evaluate a group service project that benefits either their school and/or community at least one time per academic year. The site coordinator will provide support and any resources that are needed for Queens to complete the project.
