¡Hola familias de Lakewood! Soy Heidi Miles, la Coordinadora de Lenguaje Dual en Lakewood. Este es mi cinco año en Lakewood. He pasado los últimos 10 años enseñando clases K-2nd como maestra de salón, asistente de instrucción, intervencionista de lectura y como maestra AIG. Obtuve mi Maestría en Educación de NC State y mi certificación AIG de la Universidad de Duke.
Estoy muy emocionada por el cinco año de nuestro Programa de Lenguaje Dual. Me apasiona mucho este programa porque me encanta cómo los estudiantes de diferentes culturas, orígenes e idiomas hablados se conectan a través del aula de inmersión en español.
Por último, un poco sobre mí! Soy un amante de los animales que ama leer, viajar, visitar a familiares y amigos, hacer viajes por carretera, comer helado, crear, abrazar a mis gatos, criar gatitos y caminar con mi esposo y nuestros dos perros. No dude en comunicarse conmigo en cualquier momento con cualquier pregunta o inquietud, siempre tengo una puerta abierta y oídos abiertos.
Hello Lakewood Families! I am Heidi Miles, the Dual Language Coordinator at Lakewood. This is my fifth year at Lakewood. I have spent the last 10 years teaching K-2nd classes as a classroom teacher, an Instructional Assistant, a reading interventionist and as an AIG teacher. I got my Masters in Education from NC State and my AIG certification from Duke University.
I am so excited for year 5 of our Dual Language Program. I am so passionate about this program because I love how students of different cultures, backgrounds, and spoken languages come to connect through the Spanish Immersion classroom.
Lastly, a little about me! I am an animal lover who loves to read, travel, visit family and friends, go on road trips, eat ice cream, create, cuddle with my cats, foster kittens and hike with my husband and our two dogs. ¡Hola! Soy María Fernanda Larrea y soy de Chile, ubicado en América del Sur. Soy Maestra de Nacimiento - Kindergarten con una Maestría en Educación Infantil y una certificación de Educadora de Disciplina Positiva. He estado enseñando durante 9 años y siempre me he sentido emocionado al conocer a mis nuevos alumnos y sus familias; somos un equipo que apunta a la misma meta: ¡Que su hijo tenga éxito!
Me hace sentir muy orgulloso de estar enseñando inmersión en dos idiomas en la escuela primaria Lakewood. Creo en el poder de la educación bilingüe ya que así me educaron en Chile. Siempre estaré agradecida de que me abrieran las puertas de ser bilingüe a nivel profesional, cultural y cognitivo.
¡Hola! I am Maria Fernanda Larrea and I am from Chile, located in South America. I am a Birth - Kindergarten Teacher with a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Positive Discipline Educator certification. I have been teaching for 9 years now and have always felt excited when meeting my new students and their families; we are a team aiming for the same goal: Your child to be successful!
It makes me feel very proud to be teaching Dual Language Immersion at Lakewood Elementary. I believe in the power of bilingual education since this was how I was educated back in Chile. I will always be grateful for the doors being bilingual opened for me professionally, culturally and cognitively.

¡Hola familia Lakewood! ¡Soy Karen Sevilla y soy del corazón de Centroamérica, Nicaragua! Mi experiencia es trabajar con estudiantes de idiomas extranjeros durante más de 15 años. Mi mayor proyecto en este momento es presentar mi proyecto final para mi Maestría en Educación con Concentración en Enseñanza Internacional.
Estoy encantada de trabajar en la Escuela Primaria Lakewood con el Programa de Inmersión en Dos Idiomas. My biggest project at the moment is submitting my final project for my Master's degree in Education with a Concentration in International Teaching

¡Hola Comunidad Lakewood! Soy Marlon Chamorro Grisales. Soy de Cali, en la costa del pacífico colombiano, América del Sur. Tengo una licenciatura en lenguas extranjeras (inglés y francés). Llevo quince años enseñando a jóvenes estudiantes y quiero seguir haciéndolo durante mucho tiempo porque enseñar es una de mis pasiones absolutas.
Es un privilegio para mí trabajar en la Escuela Primaria Lakewood y haré todo lo posible para alcanzar las metas con los estándares más altos. En mi clase los alumnos son el centro de atención porque estoy convencida de que tienen que jugar un papel activo en su proceso de aprendizaje. Mi papel principal es ser un facilitador del aprendizaje. Ayudaré a mis alumnos de tercer grado a hacer conexiones con su aprendizaje, aumentar la autonomía y construir relaciones.
¡Hola Lakewood Community! I am Marlon Chamorro Grisales. I am from Cali, on the Colombian pacific coast, South America. I have a bachelor’s degree in foreign languages (English and French). I have been teaching for fifteen years to young learners and I want to keep doing this for a long time because teaching is an absolute passion of mine!
It is a privilege for me to work at Lakewood Elementary, and I will do my best to reach the target goals with the highest standards. In my class, the students are the center of attention because I am convinced they have to play an active role in their learning process. My primary role is to be a facilitator of learning. I will be helping my third graders make connections to their learning, increase autonomy and build relationships.

¡Hola a todos! Es un placer para mi saludarles, familia Lakewood. Soy Skarleth Castro y soy de Honduras, un hermoso país repleto de diversidad cultural, lleno de bellos lugares turísticos y ubicado en América Central. Desde que me gradué de la universidad como profesora de inglés he trabajado enseñando en mi país y todos estos años como maestra han sido llenos de experiencias hermosas, con alumnos a los cuales llevo en mi corazón y han llenado mi carrera profesional de recuerdos inolvidables. Amo lo que hago, y por eso siempre doy lo mejor de mi tratando de ser dedicada, responsable y apasionada en mis clases.
Me siento muy orgullosa y contenta de poder formar parte de esta hermosa familia, Lakewood. Por lo cual, daré mi mejor esfuerzo para que juntos podamos lograr las metas y objetivos que llevaran a mis alumnos a alcanzar el éxito que merecen. No es posible poner en palabras lo emocionada que estoy de poder enseñar en el programa de Dual Language Immersion ya que estoy consciente de las oportunidades que saber diferentes idiomas brinda a nuestras vidas, es por ello que cada día trabajaré con dedicación para que mis alumnos saquen el mejor provecho de su aprendizaje.
Hello everyone! It is my pleasure to greet you, Lakewood family. I am Skarleth Castro and I am from Honduras, a beautiful country full of cultural diversity, amazing tourist places and located in Central America. Since I graduated from university as an English teacher, I have worked teaching in my country and all these years have been full of beautiful experiences, with students whom I carry in my heart and have filled my professional career with unforgettable memories. I love what I do, and that's why I always do my best trying to be dedicated, responsible and passionate in my classes.
I feel very proud and happy to be part of this beautiful family, Lakewood. Therefore, I will do my best so that together we can achieve the goals and objectives that will lead my students to achieve the success they deserve. No words can express how excited I am to be able to teach in the Dual Language Immersion program since I am aware of the opportunities that knowing different languages bring to our lives, which is why every day I will work with dedication so that my students get the most out of their learning.
