Acerca de nuestra Lotería

El Programa de Lenguaje Dual en Lakewood se realiza mediante una lotería que refleja nuestra comunidad escolar. Cualquier estudiante que viva dentro de los límites escolares de Lakewood puede solicitar plaza. Los estudiantes pueden solicitar plaza hasta la primera semana de clases. La fecha límite es el martes 26 de agosto de 2025 a las 12:00 p. m. Los resultados se anunciarán esa misma noche, junto con los anuncios de todas las clases monolingües.

Tenemos una lotería para 11 estudiantes hispanohablantes y 11 estudiantes angloparlantes. Lo hacemos porque creemos que es muy importante que los estudiantes hispanohablantes conserven su lengua materna. Esto les da la oportunidad no solo de ser bilingües, sino también de leer y escribir en dos idiomas. Las investigaciones también demuestran que cuando los estudiantes dominan su lengua materna, pueden aprender una segunda lengua con mayor facilidad y confianza.

Por último, dado que las familias pueden mudarse, mantenemos dos listas de espera para estudiantes angloparlantes e hispanohablantes. Si hay una plaza disponible, podemos añadir un estudiante angloparlante hasta el inicio de su primer grado. Si hay una plaza disponible en nuestra lista de espera para estudiantes hispanohablantes, podemos añadir a un estudiante en cualquier momento, siempre y cuando apruebe la evaluación que realizamos para asegurarnos de que sea la opción adecuada.

Nota: Se dará preferencia a los estudiantes que tengan un hermano en el programa.

About our Lottery

The Dual Language Program at Lakewood is done through a lottery that reflects our school community. Any student that lives within the Lakewood school boundaries is eligible to apply. Students may apply up until the first week of school. The deadline is Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 12:00 PM, with results announced that evening along with all monolingual class announcements.

We have a lottery for 11 Spanish Speaking students and 11 English Speaking Students. We do this because we believe the benefit of Spanish Speaking students keeping their first language is very important! This gives Spanish Speaking students the chance to not only be bilingual but bi-literate. Research also shows that when students become strong in their first language they can learn a second language with more ease and confidence.

Finally, because families may move we keep two waitlists for English and Spanish Speaking students. If a spot becomes available we are able to add an English Speaking student up until the beginning of their first grade year. If a spot becomes available on our Spanish speaking waitlist we can add a student at any point as long as they pass our screener we give in order to make sure it is a good fit for that student.

Note: Students who have a sibling already in the program will be given preference.
