Through NC Promise, the state has significantly reduced student tuition cost to $500 per semester at four UNC System institutions: Elizabeth City State University, Fayetteville State University, The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and Western Carolina University
NC College Connect is a program that offers North Carolina public high school students with a weighted GPA of 2.8 and above who meet NC College Connect requirements direct admission to select colleges and universities participating in the NC College Connect program.
Eligible students will see a tailored list of colleges and universities in their portal, and this list will reflect the specific institutions for which they meet the GPA requirements and any other specific admission criteria. Note, while the minimum weighted GPA for eligibility is 2.8, some participating institutions require a higher GPA for direct admission. This means that meeting the 2.8 GPA minimum does not guarantee direct admission to all NC College Connect institutions.
The Next NC Scholarship is a financial aid program that helps most North Carolinians from households making $80,000 or less pursue higher education by fully covering tuition and fees at any community college or more than half, if not all, of tuition and fees to attend any public university in the state. The best part? It’s money that doesn’t have to be repaid.
As part of the CAA, UNC System universities have created a Transfer Guide for every major. These have been developed to help students identify pathways and specific NC community college courses that lead to associate degree completion, admission into a major at a UNC System university, and finally to baccalaureate completion. Transfer Guides can be accessed for all universities on CFNC or found on individual institution websites using the links below.
