Fill out the application completely and thoroughly.
Ask TWO Core teachers (ELA,Sci, SS, or Math) to fill out the grade recommendation form.
Ask ONE Elective teacher or Counselor to fill out the recommendation form.
Submission of online recommendation forms will be accepted.
Submission of completed online application will be accepted.
Due to Covid-19, face-to-face interviews will not be conducted this year. The application and teacher recommendations will carry more weight when the AVID Site Team decides final candidates for AVID.

February 3: Presentation to 5th graders at elementary sites
February 24: Curriculum Night AVID Parent Information meeting
February 25: Recording of AVID Parent Information meeting available for Upcoming 7th/8th grade students (Q&A link will be provided, if needed)
March: Completed applications are due to Brogden Middle School Teacher/Counselor recommendations are due to Brogden Middle School
Late May - Early June: Notification about students who were accepted will be received by this
While all of the criteria are considered for acceptance into the program, no single criteria will necessarily eliminate a student from consideration. The AVID program should reflect the demographics of the school it is serving.
Students participating in special education, gifted and talented programs, and ELL will be considered for AVID based on the criteria listed above.
All students must apply and interview to enroll in AVID. Admission into AVID will be based on a combination of grades, the AVID interview and/or teacher recommendation.
