Unit 3 - Color

Video #5 - "Dark & Stormy"

Length: 00:01:00:00 minimum

Description: You know it, you love it, this traditional Senior Video Intern assignment challenges you to take the somewhat corny spooky novel opening, "It was a dark and storm night..." and turn this into a short video. Everyone must start with the same 00:00:15:00 open which is located in the TJVideo "SVI Resource" folder. (Log-in as if you were turning something in last year, then drag the "dark_and_stormy.mov" file to your desktop)

Pre-Production Requirements: First, you must complete the Dark and Stormy Project Proposal.

Production Requirements: We would like to get these on the Spartan Edition as we get close to Halloween. Many times a dream sequence works well in this video, or something similar, but you should be able to incorporate clips from videoblocks.com fairly easily. YOU CANNOT USE 100% STOCK FOOTAGE, but mix it in with your own footage if you would like.

Post-Production Requirements: As mentioned in the description, everyone must use the same "DarkandStormy2.mov" file at the start of your video. Each video must also end with a "tag line" that incorporates the Spartan Edition. Color corrections and video filters are great for this project.

Distribution Requirements:Name your project "3_lastname_DarkandStormy" Export your project as .mov file with the H.264 video codec settings. Then, add your 3_lastname_DarkandStormy project to your DPS Google Drive, and share it with me. (ask me and or see the board to make sure you have the correct Google account for Mr. Laman)

Video #6 - Two Sources...(at the same time)

Length: minimum of 00:01:00:00

Description: This video project has unlimited creative possibilities. You can make a video about whatever you want, however at some point you must have at least two different video sources playing at the same time. Most often this can be done with the "green screen effect" or some sort of "picture in picture" in your video. Are you looking into a mirror and seeing a different reflection, are you is some specific location around the world? Use the two sources of video to enhance the story you are telling. (Yes, you MUST tell a story!)

Pre-Production Requirements: You must complete the Two Sources Project Proposal, and a Storyboard. The pre-production planning is key because you will have to plan your shots ahead of time when two or more sources are playing at once.

Production Requirements: For this project, you must plan your production. Knowing that you will have at least two video sources playing at the same time, you will need to have that in mind during production.

Post-Production Requirements: As mentioned in the description, the entire project is making sure you know how to use at least two video sources at the same time.

Distribution Requirements: Name your project "3_lastname_TwoSources" Export your project as .mov file with the H.264 video codec settings. Then, add your 3_lastname_TwoSources project to your DPS Google Drive, and share it with me. (ask me and or see the board to make sure you have the correct Google account for Mr. Laman)
