Most merit scholarship money usually comes directly from the college or university that a student attends
Students should check the scholarship and financial aid website of every college that they apply to to learn how to apply or become eligible for merit scholarships from each university
Outside scholarships are also available
Students can meet with their counselor or the DSF advisor to find out about potential scholarship opportunities
Students can also use scholarship search engines to research scholarship opportunities
The FAFSA will be open for completion as of October 1, 2026
The FAFSA is the form that makes students eligible for federal grants and student loans
There are many merit based scholarships that require students to complete the FAFSA
It is a good idea for every student that is applying to college to complete the FAFSA
The CSS Profile is a financial aid form that some private colleges and universities require students to complete to be eligible for Financial Aid
Here is a list of colleges that require the CSS Profile
Students can begin completing the CSS Profile in October
Fee waivers are available for the CSS Profile (ask your counselor or DSF advisor)
