Week 1

April 7 - April 10

Week 1: Sound Walk Map and Chrome Music Lab

Sound Walk Map

1. Take a 5 minute walk around your house or neighborhood. Be as quiet as possible. What sounds do you hear around you? Above you, below you, etc.

2. Create a sound map of the sounds you hear. You may choose to use drawings, lists, or write a narrative-type detailing your response to the listening moment. You are welcome to use one of my examples below. These sounds will become inspiration to creating a song (composition).

3. Talk to an adult or sibling in your home about your listening moment. Did any sound surprise you? Was one sound more common than another?

4. Share your sound map by showing a family member, uploading on your grade's Seesaw page, or emailing Mrs. McClelland! Save your sound map for Week 2's assignment.

5. If you upload on Seesaw, please comment on others' sound maps, providing positive feedback (what you liked about their sound maps).

6. Play around on Chrome Music Lab. Can you create a fun sounding beat, ostinato (a rhythm that is repeated), or any other cool sounds? Remember what you create, as you may want to use it for our next steps.
