What do we do for birthdays and class celebrations?
Per Park Hill policy, we do not have classroom birthday parties. However, we know families like to celebrate, so during the final few minutes of the school day, parents are allowed to bring treats (popsicles or nonfood are best due to food allergies) for students to enjoy on the blacktop. Please let us know in advance.
Other 3rd-grade celebrations will include a Halloween Parade and Party, Booksgiving in November, Winter Craft Fair, Valentine Card exchange, Super Mega Awesome Dance Party, and an End-of-Year Celebration Parkway Party.
What are the 3rd-grade behavior expectations?
We follow R.O.A.R. (Respect, Ongoing Learning, Always Safe, Responsible Actions) and reward students with ROAR tickets. There are schoolwide weekly ROAR drawings for prizes and recognition.
We want students to feel safe, accepted, and included in the classroom. If there are issues between students, we help mediate with restorative practices to repair relationships and help students take responsibility for their actions. We believe consequences should match behaviors.
Does 3rd-grade go on Field Trips?
Yes! We love visiting with community partners and extending what students learn in class. Trips may include Genesee Park to hike, the Colorado Symphony, the Planetarium at the DMNS, and the Denver Zoo. We will need volunteers to join us; communication will be sent closer to the events.
Who are the Paraprofessionals in 3rd grade?
Ms. Amanda and Ms. Christina are our lovely and extremely helpful paras. We couldn't do it without them!
