Safety

There are steps we can take to support a sense of safety:

  1. Reach out, provide space and encourage your child to connect with another trusted adult or counselor to talk about their safety concerns.

  2. Encourage your child to talk to friends or family members on the phone.

  3. Help your child plan some virtual connections to distract them from their worries.

  4. Avoid watching the news in front of young children (as that can be upsetting), keep as much of a regular family routine as possible, and plan activities such as going for walks or hikes or playing board or video games together.
