Meet Mrs. Mettler:
My name is Kelly Mettler and I have been teaching ECE since the fall of 2008. I come from a family with two generations of teachers – my grandmother, being a retired 5th/6th grade teacher, and my mother, who is a retired ECE teacher (and once my ECE teammate). Being able to see my mother’s passion for teaching helped me develop mine. I like to say that she played a huge part in my choice to become an educator.
I began my education at the Metropolitan State College of Denver in the fall of 2001 exploring many different programs such as speech therapy, behavioral science, and human development. I graduated from the Metropolitan State College of Denver in May of 2008 with a degree in Human Development with a minor in Early Childhood Education. I have been privileged enough to work with children almost all my life. My mother was a teacher with Denver Public Schools and gave me many opportunities to work with her students as well as students of her co-teachers. I started my employment with Denver Public Schools in the fall of 2002 working in an all-day kindergarten classroom as a paraprofessional. The following year I moved to another school in the district to work with children with special needs and continued that for the following three years.
Keeping in mind that all students are unique and learn differently, I believe that teaching is a constant learning experience. I have a great passion for working with young children and hope to be a big part in their education.
A little more about me:
I LOVE to laugh and be around others who do, too! I also enjoy the outdoors, snowboarding, hiking/snowshoeing, traveling, working out with my boot camp group, spending time with friends and family, and the Denver Broncos. I have a wonderful husband who I have been married to since October 2013. We have an adventurous son named Breken, a very joyful daughter named Emmaline, and a handsome German shepherd dog named Enzo. They keep us on our toes and keep our hearts full!
