In order to earn a DPS diploma, students will be expected to complete the following three components:
Students will engage in a rigorous course of study and are required to complete 24 units of course credit across an assortment of content areas to prepare them for acceptance requirements at postsecondary institutions.
The coursework required includes the following:
40 credits of English language arts
40 credits of mathematics
30 credits of science
20 credits lab science, 10 credits science elective
30 credits of social studies
Includes 5 credits of Civics,
10 credits of physical education
10 credits arts or eligible Career & Technical Education (CTE) arts
80 credits of approved electives
Starting with our Class of 2027 and every graduating class after that, DPS has updated the graduation requirements. These requirements are four additional course requirements that count towards the 24 units of course credits required for graduation.
Financial Literacy (one of the options listed below)
Personal Finance ( 5 credits in social studies)
Financial Algebra (10 credits in Mathematics)
Cultural Competency (one of the options listed below)
Introduction to Ethnic Studies (5 credits in social studies)
Other approved existing elective course options
The Power of History, Conflict and Healing (5 credits in social studies)
Comprehensive Health (5 credits in electives)
