What is PRIDE?
Watch this video to learn why we have PRIDE celebrations in June!
If you are not sure what the LGBTQIA+ community is, that is a great conversation to have with an adult in your family! (Adults if you need resources for this conversation, let me know!)
Famous LGTBQIA+ Community Musicians
There are many musicians both past and present who are part of the LGTBQIA+ community. Learning about them is a great way to celebrate PRIDE!
It is important to note: These are not the only artists in the community, I just chose 5 that I felt were interesting and important!
See below for a brief description and listen to their music!
Howard Ashman
Howard Ashman was a composer who wrote music for Disney with Alan Menkin. He wrote the music for Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin to name a few!

Love is Love
This is a fantastic song that celebrates families and relationships of all kinds! This song is what PRIDE is all about!
As you are listening, think about how you feel about the people and families in the song. How can you be respectful with your feelings? How can you make sure that your words and actions are kind?
PRIDE MUSIC ACTIVITY
Choose a song that you know that could be used in a PRIDE parade. Come up with decorations, posters, a dance or march, or a speech and have a mini PRIDE parade for your family! Can think of a song to use? Use one of the songs in this lesson! Feel free to share videos or pictures that you take with Mrs. Dean
