6th Grade Music
The 6th Grade Band thrived. They have had some concerts and knocked them out of the park! They also performed for the Jr. Lilac Parade in May. Their last concert was on June 2nd at 7:00 pm. They're learned songs like Royal March of the Lion and Alpha Squadron respectively. In addition, 6th Grade Jazz Band started!
In 6th Choir, we just had our party to celebrate our hard work and commitment meeting after school each week.
7th Grade Music
The 8th Grade Band and 7th/8th Choir performed at the November Veterans' Day concert. They did a good job showing appreciation for our veterans with music.
The Seventh Graders last performance was June 4th at 7pm. The seventh and eighth grade bands had an optional solo ensemble on the twenty eighth of February at Evergreen Middle School. A solo ensemble, if you aren't aware, is a event where you perform in front of a judge that plays your instrument. You can do a solo, or play with two or three other people that play your instrument, or the same variety of instrument. So, if you're a trumpet, (like me!), you could play with another trumpet player or someone that plays another brass instrument like a trombone or a baritone. If you play flute, (like over half of my friends in concert band), you could play with another flute, or another person that plays a woodwind instrument like clarinet or saxophone. Seventh graders learned songs like Canterbury Overture, Colliding Visions, and March Zuma. They are also performed for the Jr. Lilac Parade in May.
8th Grade Music and Art
The 8th Grade Band worked on sight reading skills, intonation, balance, and blend. They just finished a unit on the circle of fifths and key signatures. They are rehearsing Hooked on a Feeling, Telltale Heart, Cimarron Overture, and Holiday Celebration.
The 7th and 8th Grade Choir is worked on vocal technique. Their last concert was an awards concert on May 28th at 7pm.
Jazz Band
Advanced Art
The Jazz Band also had a concert on June 2nd! They just performed at the Staff vs. Student Basketball game! The songs they have played are Deacon Jack's Gospel Shack, In The Zone, Fly Me to the Moon, Five Spot After Dark, Second Line, The Chicken, Buffalo Head, and L-O-V-E, and yes, it is the song that goes, "L is for the way you look at me."
Advanced Art finished their work on replicas of famous art works!
