When we recycle, materials are converted into new products, reducing the need to consume natural resources which will help to protect natural habitats for the future.
Using recycled materials in the manufacturing process uses considerably less energy than that required for producing new products from raw materials.
Recycling reduces the need for extracting, refining and processing raw materials all of which create air and water pollution. As recycling saves energy it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which helps to tackle climate change.
When we recycle, recyclable materials are reprocessed into new products, and as a result the amount of rubbish sent to landfill sites decreases which reduces emissions of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. Accordingly, studies have shown that the amount of rubbish that people have thrown away into landfill is about 3.5 million tons of rubbish and after that, a lot of that rubbish ends up inside the ocean which is eaten by sea animals.
