Student Reflection
My triptych artwork showcases the Three Magi, as their story displays the commitment and praise dedicated to their Lord. It symbolises their ongoing knowledge and voyage for truth. Their journey connects with my personal exploration as I see reflections of my own quest for purpose and understanding. Each creative decision is a representation of my search for meaning, reflecting the Magi’s pursuit of wisdom and truth. My artwork transforms into a dialogue between my inner self and the unanswered questions of our world.
Ink with the use of the blow painting technique, allowed for a vibrant artwork, detailing hues of rich colour in the background which symbolise inspiration, love and spiritual renewal. This reflects the journey of the Magi at the forefront of my artwork and represents their purpose in travelling toward Christ as everlasting servants of God’s Kingdom. The layering technique of the Magi, in conjunction with the detailed but simple use of white pencil, created depth and dimension resulting in a contrasted yet abstract composition. The unexpected pairing of the elegant background, along with the understated portrayal of the Magi show the transpositional power of searching and describing something that will leave you in awe.
