Student Reflection
‘The Light of Faith’ depicts the scripture passage, ‘The Visit of the Magi’ (Matthew 2:9-12). In a time of darkness and after being warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, the Magi with faith, love and hope in their hearts, embarked on a journey, a new beginning to worship Jesus. My artwork features a large luminous star that represents the guiding light the Magi followed to find Baby Jesus. I portrayed the symbolic values of faith, love and hope, which I believe led the Magi through their challenging journey where they found joy and peace after visiting Baby Jesus.
This reminds me of when I’ve faced challenges in my own life. I remember when my Gigi and my Grandpa passed away, I felt darkness in my life. I turned to God as my guiding light and asked him to help me through prayer for faith, love and hope. I was inspired by pop and gem art to create a vibrant sponge painted, stained glass window. The stained glass window reminds me of Christ’s light shining happiness and joy on me when thinking of my Gigi and Grandpa.
