How do we experience music?
Vocal exploration, echo songs, unison, partner songs, rounds, and harmony
Percussion (including drums, xylophones/mallet instruments, maracas, triangles, and a large variety of other percussion instruments)
Recorders (in Grade 3 ), Ukuleles (in Grades 4 & 5), World Music Drumming (Grade 5)
Experiencing a variety of genres and styles, we listen and respond to specific qualities in music, such as: tempo, dynamics, articulation, form, melody, and timbre
Melodic improvisation (xylophones, recorders, ukuleles, voices);
Rhythmic improvisation (percussion)
Creating new and original work, involving a planned rhythm, melody, and structure
Dancing; keeping a beat; showing rhythm;
We experience both improvised and choreographed movement and dance.
