Class overview

Welcome to ELA!  ELA stands for English Language Arts.  In this class you will learn to become a better reader and writer.  

Throughout the year, we will focus on studying character while also writing personal narratives and learning to write the best literary essays. We will also focus on nonfiction read skills and social issues while we also improve our research skills and informational writing.  We will improve our reading skills by analyzing and writing poetry.  Finally, we will learn all about Greek Mythology and even write our own original myths. 

As we improve our skills, we will read whole class novels, work in book clubs, and read books and novels based on your own preferences.
