Intermediate Symposium

Intermediate Symposium is designed for multilingual learners developing academic reading and writing skills in preparation for advanced English study and content-area success. Using National Geographic Learning Lift 1 as a core resource, the course develops advanced skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing with a focus on academic language and vocabulary. Students engage with nonfiction texts and authentic materials to strengthen comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking. Instruction emphasizes producing complex sentences, refining grammar, and communicating effectively across content areas while reducing language errors that could affect meaning. Through interactive discussions, writing assignments, and vocabulary development, students gain the confidence and proficiency necessary to meet the linguistic and academic demands of high school coursework.
