Douglas D. Gaffney Jr earned his Master of Philosophy (MPhil.) in psychology and Ph.D. in health psychology from Walden University, his MA in Counseling Psychology from Golden Gate University, and his BA in Organizational Development and Leadership from the University of San Francisco. Dr. Gaffney is involved in work that advances scholarly research and community resources on how socioeconomic status, race and cultural equity, fatherless homes, health behaviors, and stress affect mental and physical health.
He is a US Navy (Seabee) Veteran, real estate investor, entrepreneur, father, and follower of Jesus. Dr. Gaffney also serves on the board of directors for Natomas Charter School. His overall mission is to utilize his academic achievements, skills, and experience on projects that reduce health disparities, reduce the racial wealth gap, and effect positive social change through racial and cultural equity initiatives, policy change, health literacy, health education, and research. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his family and friends, traveling the world, fishing, hiking, working out, and trying new foods.
