Welcome to a space with a variety of resources for learning about how to include LGBTQ+ students in elementary school, get support from Admin and parents, and a Professional Development (PD) presentation that can be used in staff meetings and other places where educators learn together. The intention is this: use these resources to educate yourself and others, learn the language to support LGBTQ+ students; and validate your students' experiences.
There are 6 different tabs on this website:
1) How to talk to______: In this tab, you will find scenarios exampling parent conversations surrounding LGBTQ+ topics, resources that you as an educator can give to a parent of an LGBTQ+ student, and more.
2) Guidelines for Curriculum: In this tab, you will find a document with guidelines that your curriculum should follow to help transform heteronormative and homophobic hegemony in schools by increasing understanding and acceptance.
3) LGBTQ+ PD Presentation: In this tab lies a Google Slides presentation that can be used in school staff meetings, administrator meetings, or the beginning of the school year Professional Development. Make a copy and edit it to your needs!
4) Learning Language: In this tab, you will find definitions of LGBTQ+ terms that can help you understand your student's identities.
5) Validating Your Students: In this tab, you'll find ways to validate student identities that involve classroom decor, activities, etc.
