The type of emergency incident and assistance required.
Any hazards on-site. e.g. chemicals in a laboratory.Β
Access routes to the location where assistance is required and directions to get there.
Number of casualties involved in the incident.Β
Emergency service(s) you require - Ambulance, Fire or Gardai,Β
Do not hang up until you are satisfied that your message has been correctly received and that the emergency services have got all the details they require.
What will happen when I ring 999 or 112 for a medical emergency? π
For medical emergencies, the call-taker at National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) may ask you a series of questions about the casualty.
These questions are necessary in order to further inform the Ambulance Crew.Β
The call-taker will already have activated the nearest ambulance, and it will already be on it's way while the call-taker asks you questions.Β
The call-taker may also provide you with instructions to assist the casualty.Β

In an emergency situation, what other points need to be considered?π
Scene Safety - Do not put yourself or others at risk. At all times the most important consideration is human safety.
Familiarise yourself with fire emergency procedures, and other arrangements, in advance.
Act responsibly and methodically with due care for your safety and the safety of others.
The senior member of staff must take local control of the situation ensuring, where necessary, the safe evacuation of all persons present and be prepared to warn the emergency services of any known special hazards.Β
