WEEK ONE!
Diversity
The Office of Diversity and Equity has developed Diversity Guidelines and resources to assist in the preparation of curricula and syllabi that meet the diversity requirements for academic program reviews and support the University’s Diversity Declaration.
This course centralizes your life experience in a more practical and personal way than other classes you may take at Dominican. As such, it is important to remember that how you see the world is particular and not universal. Your experience is refracted through a multitude of lenses that your classmates will not necessarily share; who you are today has been shaped by many factors, some of which you could control, and many of which you couldn’t. We will together ensure that this classroom remains a safe and supportive place for all of us to share our stories.
We can accomplish this by:
(Developed and approved by all students in class on 8/27/19.)
1) Have a defined support system.
2) No judgments and maintain "Vegas Rules."
3) Lean into developing a strong sense of community.
TIME TO SET YOUR SHORT TERM AND LONG TERM GOALS!
Remember your purpose: Why college? Why Dominican? Why right now?
