2020-2025 Plan & Progress Report
Dominican’s 2020–2025 Civic Action Plan (CAP) was part of a national Campus Compact initiative designed to help colleges and universities align institutional practices with civic values. These plans envision an integrated approach to teaching, scholarship, and policy—ensuring that civic learning and democratic engagement are central to higher education.
The 2020-2025 CAP focused largely on building institutional capacity. Having since completed the 2026 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification reapplication, we now build on that foundation to more fully embody the public purpose of higher education and apply lessons learned through critical and asset-based community engagement.
The 2026-2030 planning process has been more inclusive, centering the interests of students and community partners. The focus of the 2026-2030 plan shifts from institutionalization to equity-building—on and off campus—through teaching, strategic partnerships, and collective action.
