A Brief History of Dolores High School in Dolores, Colorado

Nestled in the heart of Montezuma County, Dolores High School has been a cornerstone of education in southwestern Colorado for nearly a century. The Dolores School District was established in 1930, marking the beginning of organized public education in the region. The current high school building, constructed in 1954, is the oldest structure on the campus. Over the decades, Dolores High School has evolved to meet the changing needs of its student body. The school emphasizes a respectful environment built on creative learning, shared integrity, and unmistakable kindness.In recent years, the school has continued to adapt and grow. For the 2024–25 academic year, Matt Walker was appointed as the new principal. Today, Dolores High School remains a vital institution, dedicated to fostering academic excellence and personal growth among its students.
