Performance-based Objectives (PBOs) are statements telling what students need to know and be able to do. PBO’s are accessible to students, teachers and observers throughout the learning process and are linked to the content and a higher-order thinking skill. They are the focus of teaching and learning. Students should also understand the vocabulary in the PBO so they know what is expected during learning and can reach mastery.
