English Teaching

We eagerly hope to cultivate all our students owning the ability of being international citizens in the future. For reaching the goal, we must go steps further to enhance the instruction of second language teaching. But, as everybody knows, students have serious differences in English learning because of the gaps between students' family background, parents' social and economic positions and students' intelligence. Besides, lacking enough English teaching resources including teachers, suitable materials and so on is also a big problem for schools. In order to overcome these situations, our school authority designs the types of English team teaching and students' ability grouping. We combine the school and social human resources to give the students deeper and more expanded English curriculum. The social human resources come from our neighborhood university- Chang Jung University. They provide their students who major in English teaching to assist our English teaching . This kind of teaching cooperation not only benefits to the curriculum designing and students' ability grouping but also provides those college students who aims at being English teachers in the newly future more opportunities to get involved in this field.

Native Culture Teaching

Guan Miao District(關廟區) is a cultural good place of Taiwan. It's quite famous for the historic sites, scenic spots and cultural products. And when we mention about the three treasures of Guan Miao, Taiwanese people should quickly come up their mind the agricultural products- pineapples, bamboo shoots and Guan Miao noodles. However, as the native students are asked about the historical origin of Guan Miao District and the specialties of local pineapples, bamboo shoots and Guan Miao noodles, they may be absolutely at a loss. Obviously, this is a kind of disjunction between school education and native culture. How could the situation happen? Shouldn't school education interact with social culture? And we can say, under the huge examination pressure and the influence of social utilitarianism, not only people gradually put their ancestral culture aside, students also ignore the value of native resources.

Based on lessening this circumstance, we designed a series of School-based curriculum about native culture teaching. We hope by integrating the school education with native social experiences and hometown culture, the students can truly comprehend what's their hometown about, pay more attention to the land they live on and feel the beauty and vitality of Guan Miao District. Further more, we want to cultivate the students not only care about the native community, but the international community. Hence, the dream of school socialization could be really come true.

Because the hard working of our ancestors, the historical culture and products of Guan Miao can be abundant and colorful. Hopefully, through practicing the native culture teaching, our students can uncover the history and culture of Guan Miao District. Most important of all, the precious native culture can be passed from the ancestors to the children in endless succession.

Badminton Teaching

With the practicing of educational revolution in recent years, our school also think highly of developing equally on moralistic, intellective, physical, gregarious and esthetical education. Based on the spirit of Grade 1-9 Curriculum Development, one of the School-based curriculum which we put into practice eagerly is badminton teaching. Through the hard working of the principal and all school team members, the students can surly gain basic badminton skills before they graduate from the school. Moreover, the student players of our badminton team can step further obtaining higher and skillful badminton techniques. In the following is a briefly introduction of our school badminton team:

(I) The team members: As the description above, badminton teaching is our School-based curriculum. Hence, almost each of the students enjoys playing badminton very much. Under the circumstance, those students who own excellent sports condition can't surely get the priority when we choose the team members. We prefer the players who are persevering, emulative and submissive. Because we don't hope our players are absent all the time and quit the team halfway.

(II) The training process: The main goal of forming the team is providing our students one more ability and interest. So, based on the principle of no interfering their subjects studying, the training time is usually designed at school breaks such as early morning, after school or weekends. The students also accept 6 hour-long training everyday during summer and winter vacation.

(III) The economic resources: The school is quite fortunate to have a group of enthusiastic Parents Committees. They not only provide the school needful economic resources, but often bring the students nutritional supplies. And when the team participates in badminton competitions, they are very willing to take the students a ride. Beside, the county government also provides us subsidies periodically. This is because We Jia Elementary School is a crucial badminton developing school of Tainan County.

(IV) The training coaches: Our general coach- Zhi Huang Lee possess the coach and umpire qualification of provincial Grade B. The other coach- Bo Qi Xiao graduated from Physical Education Department of National Taipei Teachers College. And he was also the badminton team leader of the school. Moreover, the county government assigns a full-time badminton coach to join the training courses each year.

(V) The proud competition results: Over the past six years, the school team has won the championship for several times, so as the individual ranking competitions. In last summer vacation, we took part in the countrywide competition in Kaohsiung and won the second runner-up. This October, we even participated in the national teen-age badminton tournament in faraway Hualian and won the sixth place in doubles competition. We deeply believe competition results are just part of the training processes not all. But through the training processes, all the teachers and students of Wu Jia unite together tightly.

(VI) The team members' unlimited future: When the student players graduate from Wu Jia, they can enter the gymnastics class of Tainan County Xin Hua Junior High school, the badminton team of Tainan County Ren De Junior High School or Kaohsiung City Ying Ming Junior High School. The schools mentioned above are famous badminton teaching schools in southern Taiwan. After graduating from their junior high, they will be sent to Xin Feng Senior High School in Tainan County or Kaohuiung Senior High School without an entrance examination.
