Mrs. Sanford - School Counselor

Welcome, Stallions! I'm Jelly Anne Sanford, your new School Counselor. I'm so happy you're here and I can't wait to learn, laugh, grow, and cheer you on this year!

Educational Background and Professional Experience:

I earned my bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from San Diego State University and my master's degree in Counseling and Guidance, along with my Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential, from Point Loma Nazarene University.

I have worked in education for over a decade, and every role along the way has helped shape my passion for supporting students. I began my counseling career as a substitute school counselor with the San Diego County Office of Education before serving as an elementary school counselor with the Chula Vista Elementary School District.

I am so excited to begin my sixth year as an elementary school counselor and to be part of the Sycamore Ridge family! I look forward to partnering with our students, families, and staff to help every Stallion feel safe, supported, and successful while fostering a positive, inclusive, and caring school community where every student feels they belong.

What to Expect in School Counseling

I've always had a passion for helping students because I wanted to be the person I needed when I was younger. I believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and connected at school. My goal is to build positive relationships with students while helping them develop the social-emotional skills they need to navigate challenges, build confidence, and reach their full potential. Through classroom lessons, small groups, individual counseling, and collaboration with families and staff, I strive to create a caring and inclusive environment where every Stallion knows they belong and can learn, grow, and shine.

Life Outside of the Stallion's Stable

When I'm not at school, you'll usually find me making memories with my husband and our baby girl! We love traveling and have been lucky enough to explore 11 countries together. Whether we're golfing, snowboarding, cheering on the Padres, or checking out new restaurants, we're always up for an adventure. These days, our greatest adventure is raising our baby girl. Watching her grow and celebrating each new milestone has been the greatest joy and our favorite adventure yet! :)
