Sycamore Ridge School!
Welcome, Sycamore Ridge families! My name is Miss Hay and I’m so excited to serve as your school counselor for the 2025–2026 school year!
Educational Background and Professional Experience:
My journey into school counseling began with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Cal State San Marcos, where I developed a strong interest in how people learn, grow, and thrive in community. After graduation, I went on to earn my Master’s in School Counseling and earn my Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential from USC and have worked for the last 4 years as an elementary school counselor in Orange County.
This is my first year at Sycamore Ridge and I can’t wait to partner with you for a fantastic year ahead!

As a school counselor, my philosophy is rooted in a multi-tiered system of support approach, ensuring that every student receives the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support they need to thrive. I am a strong advocate for student mental health and wellness, committed to helping all students find their voice, build confidence, and reach their full potential. I focus on utilizing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment where every child feels seen, valued, and connected.
In counseling we will focus on three main domains: academic, social-emotional learning, and college and career readiness. I offer individual and small group counseling, classroom lessons, and lunch bunch groups. These services are designed to support students' emotional well-being, strengthen peer relationships, and build a positive sense of community on campus. I am so excited to work with all of our students and families and look forward to an amazing school year!
When I'm not at school, I love spending time outside with my partner and our sweet golden retriever puppy, Lofty! We enjoy camping, going to the beach, hiking, playing pickleball and volleyball, watching football (GO Rams!) and traveling to new places. I also love visiting my family’s river house in Mexico or hitting the slopes at Mammoth Mountain during holiday breaks. Spending time with family, friends, and Lofty is my favorite way to relax and have fun!
