About the LSPIC2025 Banner
The LSPIC 2025 Banner serves as a powerful visual representation that blends the academic mission of the Linguistic Society of the Philippines (LSP) and the cultural identity of the host institution, Pangasinan State University (PSU). The number 7 is designed as a torch, symbolizing the 7th conduct of the conference as a beacon of knowledge, guiding scholarly discourse and linguistic discovery. This torch, a timeless emblem of enlightenment, reflects the conference’s commitment to advancing linguistic research, cultural preservation, and community engagement. At the top of the torch, the lion’s head — a tribute to PSU’s emblem — signifies the university’s robust and far-reaching influence, asserting its prominence as a leading educational institution through its four-fold function. The flame, embodying PSU’s enduring spirit of inquiry and the pursuit of truth, symbolizes the transformative power of language as it evolves through time and across regions, resonating with the conference theme, "Language through the Ages, Across the Regions."
Incorporating elements of Pangasinan’s rich cultural heritage, the letters LSPIC are creatively linked to the iconic landmarks and festivities. L stands for the Lingayen Bagoong Festival, celebrating the province's famed fermented fish sauce, while S represents the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag, a revered pilgrimage site. P highlights the Pangasinan Provincial Capitol, one of the Philippines' Architectural Treasures, and I honors the Asna Monument, paying tribute to outstanding Pangasinenses. C signifies the Tayug Sunflower Eco Park, a symbol of the province’s natural beauty and eco-tourism.
The banner also features salt cubes – which allude to Pangasinan's name, PangASINan. The waves represent the many stunning beaches that surround the province. Lastly, the royal blue and golden yellow colors reflect PSU's commitment to providing quality education and celebrating the province’s agricultural abundance. Together, these elements weave a rich visual narrative that connects Pangasinan’s history, LSP’s mission, PSU’s academic leadership, and the enduring significance of language across generations and regions.
