Cultural Perspectives on Shame: Unities and Diversities. Mun (ed.). Routledge

"This book offers a brilliant survey of how 'shame' is understood in diverse non-western traditions in the comparative light of contemporary global theory.  Beyond conventional western definitions of shame, this volume extends meanings and values of shame through introducing theories and embodied practices from trans-cultural perspectives, and Asian and comparative analysis."  - Jea Sophia Oh, PhD, Associate Professor of Philosophy, West Chester University of Pennsylvania

"In “ Love as an Act of Resistance: bell hooks on Love,”  Hazel T. Biana delves into bell hooks’  feminist theory and explores how it relates to her ideas on spirituality and love. She argues that hooks’ s love ethic theory implies that love is more than just an act with intent toward care, commitment, trust, respect, responsibility and knowledge for oneself and the other; it is also an act of resistance... 2011. Entanglements: bell hooks' Cultural Criticism and Philippine Haircare Advertising

Feminista : Gender, Race, and Class in the Philippines. Ed. by dela Cruz & Peracullo. Anvil Publishing.

"The third part brings in the work of authors who critically examine the manner in which media and the arts represent women and notions of femininity. . . Particularly, Hazel Biana’s study on haircare industry advertising brings the reader to realize the extent to which certain representations are normalized by the supposed allure of a 30–60-second commercial. One wishes that the essay be required reading for the young generation of Filipino women enamored and lured by these types of advertisement"

With M Jabar, H Yabut and C Regadio, Jr. 2016. Teaching Philippine Indigenous Cultures: Modules for Higher Education Institutions

The main goal of the project is to integrate Filipino Indigenous Peoples’ knowledge and culture into the upcoming revised Higher Education Institution (HEI) curriculum of Liberal Arts and Education courses in step-by-step phases. The set of modules was developed as a guide to help HEIs conceive of and imagine their own ways of integration.

"This set of modules for teaching indigenous cultures in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) could not have come at a better time. . . It is a valuable resource that will hopefully be used by many Filipino educators who are convinced of the importance of integrating knowledge of the IP cultures into relevant program curricula."
