Informal Grievance
A grievance made orally and settled with sincere dialogue.
1. Approach your professor for a dialogue. Inform them of the issue and state what you want to happen or suggestion/s to resolve the issue
2. If unsatisfied with the outcome, approach your department—who will act as a mediator—and your batch representative then set a meeting.
3. If you are still unsatisfied with the outcome, please approach your USG President via the USG Facebook page or the Judicial Facebook page.
Take note of when and what transpired during the meeting.
Formal Grievance
A grievance that includes a written complaint.
1. The student shall approach the Office of the President of the Univerisity Student Government who shall relay and course the complaint and assign a Student Adviser upon the request of the student.
2. The student files a written complaint with the Department Chairperson to which the concerned faculty belongs to.
3. The complaint should be signed by the student and accomplished in three copies to be given to the:
• Department Chairperson
• Faculty Member
• Student File duly received and dated by the Department Chairperson
4. Within 3 working days from receipt of the complaint, the Department Chairperson writes the faculty concerns to respond in writing, within three (3) working days from receipt of the letter.
5. Upon receipt of the written answer by the respondent, the Department Chairperson evaluates the complaint and the answer.
1. What is a grievance?
A grievance refers to any controversy between a student as the aggrieved party and a member of the academic community as a respondent that may be the cause of a complaint.
2. Who can file?
Any student of De La Salle University.
3. When can you file?
A grievance can be filed any time during the term but not later than 4 calendar weeks or 28 working days after the Grade Consultation Day.
4. What are the types of Grievance?
Academic Grievance (related to learning or to performance in academic courses) and Behavioral Grievance (related to the manner a person conducts themself).
5. Can more than 1 person file a grievance?
Yes, group grievance of 3 or more students or a class grievance which is raised by 50% +1 of enrolled students in a certain course.
